Computer Nostalgia

Something completely different now. I was incredibly obsessed with my ZX Spectrum in my very early teens. I used to display the games proudly alongside my music collection as they all used to fit on the same cassette storage rack. Looking at this website you realise that some of them had glorious cassette inlay artwork that was, in some cases, a million miles from how the game actually looked on your screen. Not that it actually mattered. Indulge.

Dub Phizix - Treatment

A man of his word, Dub Phizix brings us another freebie for the continuing support from fans of his Facebook page. 'Treatment' is a dark and moody D&B roller and as ever the production is double crisp. Grab the track alongside two previous gifts here and if you're not already a fan then get onto his Facebook page here because who knows, maybe he'll be feeling generous again in the future eh? *fingers crossed*

Skittles Dusty Riddims Vol.1

Skittles is blowing the dust off his old hard drives and has uncovered this "dusty riddim". As a thank you for all the support so far for the Tip-I-Cal-Ly single here is a treat for you all.

'Humble Abode' produced by MRK1 was recorded in 2007, originally intended for inclusion on Skittles debut LP 'Two Pints Of Brandy and A Packet Of Skittles' but just missed the release date.

Download it for free here at Skittles Facebook page.

A more musical feel than what some of you might be used to but Skittles trademark flow and word play is as fresh as ever.

Never Went To Blue Note

Yes, yes and YES! Ben UFO serves up a crisp selection paying homage to the now famous club where many caught their inspiration. Being only barely a teenager at the time (and being 150 miles away with no car) I was never able to venture there myself so this mix is pretty apt. Amazing that even though most of the tunes are 10 or so years old, production values and a recent revival in sounds created with ageing hardware mean the music is as clear, upfront and smooth as it's ever has been. The Boymerang remix of Ed Rush & Optical's track 'Technology' is a firm favourite in here.
